This recipe uses a product called Chicken Ground Round by Yves, and according to their website, can be found in grocery stores across Canada. I never have a problem finding it, though if you live outside of Canada, you may have to find an alternative. I don’t usually like using “fake meat” products. But Chicken Ground Round is just so damn good!
Ingriedients:
- 1 package of Yves Chicken Ground Round
- 1 white onion, roughly chopped
- 2 garlic clove, presses
- 1 tbs of ground cumin
- 1 tbs of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Mayonnaise (or Veganaise if you want to make this vegan)
- Sandwich bread
In a frying pan, heat up the oil. Fry the onions until translucent and then add the garlic.
Continue cooking for about 2 more minutes.
Start adding the Ground Round, be sure that you break it up as you add it to the pan.
Keep everything moving in the pan or else it will all burn.
Add the cumin, lower the heat, and keep cooking for another minute or so.
I usually take a sample taste at this point, and then add salt and pepper as needed.
Take the frying pan off the heat, and let cool.
Now do what we all know how to do…make a sandwich.
I add mayo to both sides of the bread, just to moisten things up. Feel free to add a slice of smoked gouda in there and a couple slices of tomato, if you are so inclined. If you’re feeling extra crazy…toast the bread!
Eat and enjoy! It’s delicious!

NOTE:
Recently I have been making this dish a lot and noticed that it is WAY better when not eaten hot. I don’t know why or how. So my suggestion is after making it, put the whole thing in the fridge to let it cool.
